The fifth ODF plugfest will take place at Maidenhead town hall, in the Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, on February 24/25th 2011.

The ODF plugfests are an ongoing series of vendor-neutral events, bringing together implementers and stakeholders of the standard. The goal is to achieve maximum interoperability by running scenario-based tests in a hands-on manner and discuss new and proposed features of the ODF specification.

Lead architects from commercial and open source products, members of the OASIS ODF TC's and technical experts from national and regional governments will be present. Previous plugfests were held at The Hague (Netherlands), Orvieto (Italy), Granada (Spain) and Brussels.

Why support the first UK-based ODF plugfest?

The ODF plugfests are a key practical exercise to ensure working IT standards and solutions for effective collaboration and communication between all elements of government, business, the third sector and the citizen.

Maintaining the successful series of ODF plugfests directly supports a number of key UK policy objectives:

What is 'ODF'?

ODF is a platform and application independent open standard for editable documents created by the OASIS international standards group. It is therefore:

ODF lowers both the costs and risks for users AND suppliers to invest in workplace collaborative solutions.
